Recreating Pultecs EQP-1A With the original version released in 1951 the EQP-1A has a heritage stretching over 60 years. The unit is known for its durability optimized design and most importantly incredible sound quality. That is why units have been used for years and years without breaking and why these units are still being made. But not everyone has the thousands to spend on a hardware EQP-1A. This is where Apogees version comes in. They have accurately recreated the EQP-1A in collaboration with Pultecs current manufacturer. As well as emulating the main EQ features of the EQP-1A theyve emulated its analog peculiarities too. For example bands interact with each other and circuit nonlinearities have been intentionally introduced. This is a classic unit that now everyone can use. Software emulation of a classic The Pultec MEQ-5 is an EQ that has been used by professional engineers for decades. Producer Jack Douglas (John Lennon Aerosmith and more) says he uses it for EQing guitars all the time. It allows for complex midrange contouring that gives tracks a classic warm character. And now this sound for anyone with Apogees software version. Theyve taken a real MEQ-5 unit and reproduced it virtually down to the last circuit and analog imperfection.
