A perfect blend of power and articulation is achieved by a hybrid shell of oak and phenolic sheets. An optimal bass drum sound is guaranteed straight out of the box owing to the bass enhancement weights which attenuate low-mid frequencies and focus its sound. The shells are finished using strict traditional Japanese methods accentuating the natural beauty of the oak grain. The result – a shell pack that is as visually striking as it is powerful in sound. The Yamaha Live Custom Hybrid Oak shells feature a dense phenolic sheet sandwiched between two sheets of oak ply. Oak is an incredibly solid durable wood grain that produces enhanced low frequencies – adding presence to your performances. Leading the way for oak shells Yamaha has improved the dynamic response for even greater attack and projection. Shaped and crafted by hand and advanced machinery the results are outstanding. Traditionally Finished Theres a reason the Live Custom Oak kits have such a unique shine. They are crafted using a traditional technique called UZUKURI. This involves sanding down the soft areas of the wood grain and coating the shell in a thin layer of black paint. The shell surface is then sanded a second time before the final coating is applied. This is a process that accentuates the natural beauty of the oak grain. Solid Hardware As well as exceptionally crafted shells the Custom Oak drum kits take hardware just as seriously. With die-cast bass drum hooks you can expect noise-free function. The floor tom brackets include wing bolts that clamp tightly to the leg without damage saving time on stage and controlling the drum decay. The dark silver hardware complements the black shell interior perfectly. Yamaha also incorporate the YES III tom mount into the Yamaha Custom Oak shell packs. This evolutionary step from the YES II Mount reduces acoustic dampening further allowing the shell to vibrate more freely. Remo Drum Heads The Live Custom Hybrid Oak shell packs come complete with Remo drum heads out-of-the-box. On the toms you have Remo clear Emperor/Ambassador heads. On the bass drum – Remo P3 Ebony and Remo P3 Clear on the batter. Heads that are known for their deep sound and durability. These high-quality heads are secured with the heavyweight Yamaha 2.3mm Dyna Hoop for optimum tone control.
