All Holton French horns include hand-lapped rotors that are tapered. While you play the rotors progressively wear and will slowly seat themselves. This includes the bearing surfaces axles on each end of the valve and the bearing plates. To ensure the rotor system stays quick and reliable the H378 uses a string action which is quieter and cheaper to fix compared to a ball-joint action. This design results in a longer lasting rotor mechanism and less chance of the valves seizing.
